Single Occupant Buildings

When a building is occupied by a single tenant, is the 2010 Retail Standard applicable for measuring GLA, and are there any differences between measuring GLA for a single occupant or multi-occupant building?

For example, in a single occupant building, are deductions still made for major vertical penetrations, voids, and mechanical and electrical rooms?

As an aside, for a point of clarification - Section 2: Measurement Method in "7 - Measure Gross Leasable Area" says "Make no deductions for columns or for other structural elements or for occupant voids" -- however the "Space Type Chart" indicates that Voids are excluded from GLA.

Hello,

The BOMA retail Standard is applied the same to Single Occupant and Multi-Occupant Buildings, so yes the same deductions shall be applied.

Voids are building voids, not Occupant Voids. Voids are simply not measured at all and therefore not included in the report.

Thanks,
David
