Long stairs with long landings

Paul

Hello,

I have a situation where in high-rise building there are multiple above ground level enclosed stairs with long landings (about 15-20 feet). Do you consider it MVP anyway or those long landings has to be a Building service area since it has ground. (Stairs and long landings have no entrances to suites or other areas)
Thank you

Hi Paul,

The standard specifically states and illustrates that landings are part of Major Vertical Penetration (MVP) except when the landing is at a level of a Floor AND provides access to adjacent Space Classifications. The standard does not make any exceptions for large landings. Therefore, your landings are MVP and excluded from Rentable Area.

Thanks,
David
