Drip Line

The vertical plane established by the outer edge of a roof, canopy, or overhang. BOMA (Industrial): Serves as the primary boundary for "Method B." It allows for the inclusion of covered, unenclosed areas, such as loading docks and staging areas, within the Rentable Area. Drip Line measurements can yield a significantly higher rentable area BOMA (Retail): Used to determine the boundary for "Outdoor Pedestrian Areas" or "Covered Common Areas" that are functional parts of a shopping center. IPMS: Corresponds to IPMS 1 (External) under "Helping Structures." It identifies covered ground area separately from the fully enclosed building volume. REBNY: Generally excluded. NYC standards focus on the enclosed building envelope; outdoor covered areas are rarely included in the primary rentable square footage.
