Common Area

Common Area refers to the spaces in a building that are not leased to a specific tenant but are available as a service or amenity by two or more tenants. Under BOMA standards, common areas are categorized as either Floor Service Areas (serving a single floor) or Building Service Areas (serving the entire building) and are distributed to tenants via a load factor. Other common area types are Inter-Allocated Common Area, Campus Common Area, and Mixed-Use Common Area (MUCA), depending on the building type and standard applied.
