BOMA standard information

Hello,

I am working on a 6 story mixed-use building where level 01 has office along with retail and the second floor is entirely office. I am using the 2010 BOMA standards to draw the area boundaries. When placing the area lines, do they run along the interior face of glass where glazing is drawn in the office area? If so, is this the case on both floor conditions (floor 1 where it is truly mixed-use and floor 2 where it is all office)?

Thank you!

Hi Sandra,

In BOMA Office 2010, you can draw the Boundary Area to the Exterior Enclosure (outside wall) wherever it is adjacent to Public Pedestrian Thoroughfare. Otherwise, the Boundary Area is established at the vertically dominant Inside Finished Surface. I strongly recommend obtaining a copy of the standard for more details about Public Pedestrian Thoroughfare and other related concepts.

Thanks,
David
