Calculation of Boundary Area in Buildings with parapets

For a tilt panel concrete warehouse that has walls higher than the roof, is the permanent roof area that defines boundary area measured to the inside of the parapet wall since the roof technically does not extend to outer limit of building?

Hi Thomas,

No that is not the intention. The definition of Permanent Roof in the standard:

The outermost and Permanent covering of a Building (or portion thereof), excluding any element not essential to its structural integrity, including but not limited to, non-permanent fixtures such as ornamental overhangs, eavestroughs, awnings, canopies and the like.

In this case, the outer wall would be considered part of the outermost Permanent covering.

Thanks,
David
