Good afternoon. One of our clients is a landlord who is finalizing a large lease. The tenant has asked the landlord for a BOMA Certificate for the Lease Rentable calculations. I have been working with the BOMA Measurement standard for 23 years and have never had a client ask me for a certificate. Is there such a thing?
Hi David,
There is no official BOMA certificate from BOMA International, however I believe the request you are receiving is an area certificate letter based on the BOMA rentable area calculations that you've calculated. We produce these certificates all the time for our clients, usually for due diligence. Our clients will request these and provide them to their new tenants or prospective tenants in order to confirm to them that an experienced unbiased third party has determined the rentable area.
