BOMA Method "A" Calculating Floor Service with MEP and Communications Closets

Bryan Whitley

My read of BOMA-Method A is that all secondary mechanical, electrical, IT, and communications closets (spaces that enable occupants to work on that floor) located on upper floors are to be considered as floor service areas even if they are located within lease space. Please confirm or set me straight.

Hi Bryan,

Confirmed. This is true although most times, these spaces are found in the building core, outside of occupant's space. It's important to make sure that those rooms don't serve only the occupant in which they reside.
