BOMA Office Guide

Introduction

The "Standard Method for Measuring Floor Area in Office Buildings" is published by BOMA International (The Building Owners and Managers Association) and is approved by ANSI (American National Standards Institute). The Standard is used by building owners, facility managers, leasing professionals, tenants, appraisers, architects, planners, and building measurement professionals to compute office area using an agreed-upon, standard method of measurement. BOMA International first developed the Standard in 1915. Since then, it has undergone several revisions, the most recent of which were in 1980, 1996 & 2010. BOMA 1980 and BOMA 1996 are both in common use today while BOMA 2010 is still very new and awaiting ANSI approval as of February 2010.
